I have spent more than 2 years staying in London, and I spent most of my holiday in Manchester because I have my big love there.Once Manchester United fan, you will have a dream of being inside the stadium and watching the game. Yes, I have done all of these. God bless me 😀
My post will show you guys about an Old Trafford tour
1. Hotel in Manchester:
There are many choices for tourists in Manchester but for a budget and good located hotel, I recommend to choose one of followings:
– Ibis Hotel: Depend on how much you would like to pay, but IBIS Central Polland and IBIS
Central Princess are quite close to each other
– Britannia Hotel Manchester: I stayed in this hotel last trip (2014). I got a good deal on Agoda and this located in the city center, near the Manchester Picadilly station. You only need to walk from the station, going straight to the Wheel of Manchester then turn left, you will see a big Britannia. The hotel is vintage style but it is quite comfortable to stay.
– Premier Inn: Choose the one in Central Polland if you go for this choice
2. How to go to Manchester?
Haha, let see where you from? If you are from abroad, of course, book a flight. Manchester has its own airport and this international airport has various flights per day. Not a problem
Else, you are from London or other local regions, take a train guys. I took a train from London Euston to Manchester Picadilly, about 3,5 hours, comfort seats then here you are 😀
3. Booking in advance:
The first thing to remind is there is no stadium tour on Match day, for sure 😀 Check the match schedule then go to website and make a booking. It saves time for you but if you are from abroad, no worries, they have profession service which will sell you ticket for the tour.
I have done the tour two times, one was when Macheda, Park Ji Sung and Giggsy still played. Another one was when we have De Gea, Mata and new faces. Both time is amazing and I still want to go back there.
So for the tour, you will have chance to see the stadium, get in the changing room of players (the real one), and seat on the Home or Visit seats where sir Alex sat all the time haha
They will take you to the Munich Tunnel and of course the Mega Store so you can buy stuff, take loads of picture with accessories and even print out the autograph of players with your name on it.
It is quite great experience for those who are Manchester United’s fan.
4. Seeing the lads
Yes, I mean you have chance to see the players like Rooney, Giggsy, Mata, De Gea so on.
It is not that difficult to see an idol or famous figure like how we experienced in Seoul (lol)
On the match day, even you are inside or outside stadium, you still can meet them depending on how much patient you are.
After the game, the lads will have showering and change the outfit. During that time, fans will stand outside of the Southern Gate. Actually, you just going inside until you see a lot of securities with barriers, it is the gate where the lads will come out 😀
The security will get the key of players and drive the car to the gate for them. All of things you need to do is waiting and once they show up, call out their names. They will walk around, sign for you, even took a selfie with you (De Gea and Mata did it with me and my friends). Then they back to car and ride away.
What a great time!
For match ticket, you must be a member first then you will book to be in a ballot. After being successful in this step, you will be able to buy ticket and pick a seat. I used to have a great seat, right in the first row close the the ground and enjoying my Ji Sung Park, Chicharito and Macheda. But is is the match on boxing day lol.
Go to Manchester, and enjoy everything about football.
